My Review of Thirteen Reasons Why By Jay Asher
If I were to rate this book I would give it 5 stars. To me the book really captures the sense of what Hannah was feeling as she was creating the tapes and Clay's thoughts on each tape. I enjoyed the writing style Jay Asher used. Each chapter was named as Cassette number and either side A or side B depending on what side Clay was listening too. Throughout each tape Clay would press play or pause and Jay Asher wrote that in a way that when it was playing Hannah would be talking through the tape and when it was paused he would describe Clay's thoughts on what Hannah said.
Jay Asher made Clay Jensen the person telling the story which I believed was appropriate because before Hannah committed suicide she and Clay had a special relationship. Clay was the only one that truly cared for Hannah. Everywhere Clay went he kept thinking of Hannah. Jay Asher showed me a side of Clay that was sincere and real. Overall this book was amazing and inspiring. It made me stop and think that everything matters in life.
